Slate

Slate is formed by intense pressure which has bonded together layers of fine particles such as clay and sedimentary limestone shale’s. This layered structure means it can be split and is good at repelling moisture, making it ideal for indoor and outdoor use.

Being composed of quite soft constituent parts means slate can scratch and chip but is suitable for fire hearths, tilling walls and floors, window sills and vanity tops.
